Hey Boo: Harper Lee To Rebroadcast

Sad news from Alabama today: Nelle Harper Lee passed away last night. Director Mary Murphy will be talking about Lee’s legacy on NPR, CBC, CNN & on CBS Sunday Morning, and “Harper Lee: From Mockingbird to Watchman” will be rebroadcast on PBS.

“Hey Boo: Harper Lee and To Kill A Mockingbird” is available for purchase on iTunes or on DVD with a special coda on “Go Set A Watchman.”

Harper Lee Meeting: Exclusive Report from Filmmaker

Harper Lee: American Masters documentary filmmaker and author Mary McDonagh Murphy met with Harper Lee and Lee’s close friend and benefactor Joy Brown on June 30, 2015, in Monroeville, Alabama at The Prop & Gavel restaurant prior to the publication of Lee’s second novel, Go Set a Watchman. In an American Masters web exclusive, Murphy reports on her meeting with Lee about the new novel and shares interviews with Lee’s lawyer, Tonja B. Carter, Lee’s current literary agent, Andrew Nurnberg, and Lee’s friend Wayne Flynt, an Alabama historian. The report features never-before-seen photos of Lee, who when presented with a printed copy of her new novel for the first time, remarked, “Wonderful.”

Brand New Release of “Hey, Boo” Includes “Go Set a Watchman”

Hey, Boo: Harper Lee and To Kill a Mockingbird has been newly re-released as Harper Lee: From Mockingbird to Watchman. The updated documentary includes all the old interviews and material in addition to brand new details about Lee’s new book and a brief encounter with the author herself. The updated documentary, which aired on PBS on July 10, 2015 as part of the American Masters program, is now  available on iTunes.
