Harper Lee: American Masters documentary filmmaker and author Mary McDonagh Murphy met with Harper Lee and Lee’s close friend and benefactor Joy Brown on June 30, 2015, in Monroeville, Alabama at The Prop & Gavel restaurant prior to the publication of Lee’s second novel, Go Set a Watchman. In an American Masters web exclusive, Murphy reports on her meeting with Lee about the new novel and shares interviews with Lee’s lawyer, Tonja B. Carter, Lee’s current literary agent, Andrew Nurnberg, and Lee’s friend Wayne Flynt, an Alabama historian.
