Live From Space

Live From Space is a groundbreaking two-hour television special that aired on the National Geographic Channel on March 14, 2014. Broadcast live from the International Space Station (ISS) and NASA's Mission Control in Houston, the program offered viewers an unprecedented real-time glimpse into life aboard the ISS. Hosted by journalist Soledad O'Brien and astronaut Mike Massimino, the event featured live interactions with astronauts Rick Mastracchio and Koichi Wakata as they orbited Earth at 17,500 mph, 250 miles above the surface. Viewers were treated to a guided tour of the station, demonstrations of daily routines in microgravity, and insights into scientific experiments conducted in space. The broadcast also showcased stunning live visuals of Earth, including sunrises, sunsets, and auroras. Complemented by pre-recorded segments to cover potential signal interruptions, the special provided an immersive experience into the challenges and wonders of living in space. Live From Space was simulcast in over 170 countries, marking a significant achievement in live space broadcasting.
