Protacticle: A Language of Touch

Protactile: A Language of Touch is a powerful short documentary produced by Murphy for PBS’s American Masters, exploring the creation and impact of Protactile—a touch-based language developed by and for the Deaf-Blind community. Narrated by Rebecca Alexander, author and disability rights advocate, the film features Protactile founder Jelica Nuccio and educators Hayley Broadway and Roberto Cabrera, offering a rare, intimate look into how Deafblind individuals connect through this rich, nuanced language. First aired on July 25, 2023, the documentary is presented with full accessibility, including audio description, open captions, and ASL interpretation.
